XII International Sports Forum "Russia - Country of Sports"

The XII International Sports Forum "Russia - Country of Sports" was held from October 17 to 19, 2024 in the capital of Bashkortostan - Ufa.

Sergey Alekseevich Vorobyov, Director of FSBI SPbNIIFK, participated in the forum.

The main event in Russian sports gathered 5,000 industry representatives, federal and municipal authorities to jointly discuss challenges and prospects facing the sports movement.

The central venue of the forum was the Palace of Wrestling in Ufa, opened for the city's 450th anniversary, with events hosted at 8 state-of-the-art facilities.

Participants from over 50 countries attended the three-day business program featuring 40 roundtables, panel discussions, lectures and sessions, while witnessing achievements of domestic sports industry and regions at the "Modern Sports: Innovations and Prospects" exhibition.

The forum's highlight was the plenary session "Sports - A Comprehensive Vision for the Future", discussing sports development prospects including Strategy-2030 implementation, international cooperation, sports investments, and athletes' moral education.

Russian President Vladimir Putin participated, stating: "Modern sports prospects require serious discussion to overcome contemporary challenges, prevent division in international sports family, and eliminate vulgar politicization and double standards. With our vast experience in major sports events, we propose new cooperation formats based on genuine sports ideals."

The first meeting of sports ministers from Caspian states (Russia, Kazakhstan, Iran, Azerbaijan) was opened by Russian Sports Minister Mikhail Degtyaryov, who emphasized sports' unifying power and readiness to share expertise.

A key event was the meeting of the Presidential Council for Physical Culture and Sports Development.

Vladimir Putin stated: "State and society resources must work toward national development goals, requiring transparent coordination between organizations and businesses in sports sector through modern digital solutions."

The forum included a panel session on sports integration within CIS, BRICS, SCO and EAEU frameworks.

Concurrently, the "Modern Sports: Innovations and Prospects" exhibition showcased industry products and regional sports achievements.

Sports Minister Mikhail Degtyaryev opened the exhibition with Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko.

Sergey Vorobyov held meetings with heads of sports science/education institutions, federation leaders, and industry representatives.

Discussions focused on cooperation and scientific support for sports organizations.
