8-10 Stages of the Russian Cup in Ski Jumping for Men and Women

The 8th and 9th stages of the Russian Cup in Ski Jumping for Men and Women took place from January 15th to 18th, 2026, in the city of Nizhny Tagil (Sverdlovsk Oblast).

Scientific staff from the Division of Modern Technologies of Training for High Trained Athletes at the FSBI SPbNIIFK – Grigoriy G. Zakharov and Anna N. Belyova – undertook a business trip to these sporting events to gather information related to the research project "Development and Scientific Justification of a Methodology for the Technical Preparation of Women in Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined" as part of a state assignment.

Throughout four days, video recordings were captured of the key phases of the jump performed by all competitors on trampolines with a power rating of 90 and 120 metres. This will enable the identification of the principal kinematic characteristics of the female athletes during the jump and an assessment of their technical proficiency.

Furthermore, the athletes underwent testing to determine their speed and strength capabilities using a force plate in a laboratory setting. A total of over 70 ‘flying skiers’ – women and men – were examined.
