The division of modern technologies of training for high trained athletes

Head of the Sector – Grigory Georgievich Zakharov, Ph.D. in Pedagogy

Full-time staff of the sector:

1) Head of the Sector, Research Associate – Grigory Georgievich Zakharov, Ph.D. in Pedagogy

2) Leading Research Associate – Andrey Gennadievich Gretsov, Doctor of Pedagogy

2) Senior Research Associate – Natalia Borisovna Novikova, Ph.D. in Pedagogy

3) Senior Research Associate – Natalia Borisovna Kotelevskaya, Ph.D. in Pedagogy

4) Research Associate – Inna Georgievna Ivanova

5) Junior Research Associate – Anna Nikolaevna Belyova

Main directions of research work of the sector:

1. Research on methods of planning, implementing, monitoring and correcting the training process for young and highly qualified athletes.

2. Development of modern technologies for managing the training of young and qualified athletes in Olympic and Paralympic sports.

3. Biomechanical studies of sports movement techniques of highly qualified athletes using video analysis and strain gauge programs.

4. Development of programs and methods for technical-tactical, general and special physical training, technologies for assessing technical and physical readiness of young athletes and highly qualified athletes.

5. Scientific and methodological support for the training of athletes of Russian and St. Petersburg national teams in cyclic and complex coordination sports.

6. Scientific and methodological work with athletes and coaches in ski jumping, Nordic combined, cross-country skiing in regions cultivating these sports, including testing of special physical and technical training, seminars, consultations.

During 2021-2024, the MTTHQA division conducted biomechanical studies of: cross-country skiing techniques in junior and adult skiers; ski jumping techniques in ski jumpers and Nordic combined athletes; general and special physical fitness of junior and adult athletes; vestibular stability studies of ski jumpers; and analysis of dynamic push-off indicators in ski jumping. Based on theoretical and practical research, scientifically validated training methodologies were developed for various aspects of young athletes' preparation in ski sports. As part of state assignment projects, MTTHQA researcher G.G. Zakharov completed a dissertation titled "Methods of Technical Training in Ski Jumping for Nordic Combined Athletes Aged 13-16" in the scientific specialty 5.8.5 "Theory and Methods of Sports".

In 2025, applied research continues on: "Investigation and Development of a Data Analysis System for Elite Cross-Country Skiers' Performance to Improve Training Process Management". The research has developed a computer program using AlphaPose neural network for: recognizing skier postures in video recordings; automatic calculation of joint angles during stride cycles; determining angular velocities of body segments; and creating videograms of skiing techniques (Computer Program Registration Certificate No. 2024668312 dated 08/06/2024). Currently under development is a program for extracting data from online resources and generating athlete performance reports during long-term training in cross-country skiing, which will optimize competition analysis, identify sport trends, and enhance training efficiency.

Through 2028, planned scientific research includes: "Investigation, Development and Scientific Validation of Technical Training Methods for Women in Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined".
